Colds are perhaps the most common among the population. During the year, they can overtake repeatedly, accompanied by various symptoms and complications, so you should not postpone the treatment. In this case, Erespal comes to the rescue - a syrup, which is often prescribed by doctors, both for small patients and adults.

Composition, release form and packaging

The pharmacy assortment of funds prescribed for acute respiratory infections is very wide. Among them, Erespal is a relatively new product that has already proven its effectiveness, a drug produced in tablets or in syrup.

Fenspiride, which is part of Erespal, is the main active substance, due to which the medicine manifests its complex healing properties. Tablets and syrup have a slightly different composition, however, the general pharmacological effects.

But the liquid form contains several advantages over the tablet:

  • rapid absorption in the digestive tract;
  • faster result;
  • ease of use and dosage, which is important if the drug is prescribed for children;
  • pleasant taste.

Erespal in syrup is available in a plastic container with a lid with a capacity of 150 ml. Externally - an orange tint liquid with a light vanilla aroma. Before applying the syrup, it is recommended to shake it well, since the sediment at the bottom is a variant of the norm.

Pharmacological properties and pharmacokinetics

Fenspiride has a complex effect on the body:

  • relieves inflammation;
  • exhibits antiexudative effect;
  • does not allow bronchospasm to develop;
  • inhibits the action of histamine receptors, reducing allergic manifestations.

In the gastrointestinal tract, Erespal is absorbed quite well, reaching a concentration in the maximum volume after 6 hours, but reducing it threefold after 12. It is excreted from the body naturally - with urine and through the intestines.

What cough is prescribed Erespal syrup

Coughing on its own is not a disease! And the patient needs to be treated not for coughing, but for a disease of which he is a symptom. Often, a cough is a reflex that helps clear the airways. In acute respiratory infections with damage to the upper and lower respiratory tract, it is the cough that helps relieve sputum.

Erespal is prescribed for such diagnoses as:

  • sinusitis (bacterial and viral);
  • pharyngitis;
  • laryngitis.

Reception of syrup cannot be a complete replacement for antibiotic therapy. Therefore, Erespal is used as a component of complex treatment.

The use of fenspiride in otitis media, rhinitis (including allergic origin) and other ENT diseases, both accompanied and not accompanied by cough, is justified.

The anti-inflammatory effect of Erespal syrup leads to a decrease in exudation, the removal of edema of the bronchial mucosa, and dilutes sputum. The effectiveness of Erespal is clinically proven with both dry and wet cough, which occurs against the background of inflammatory respiratory diseases.

Like cough syrup, Erespal can be prescribed for whooping cough. This dangerous disease is most common among children under 2 years old. Special aerobic bacteria cause pertussis, while a person does not have innate immunity to them. And even vaccination, which significantly reduces the risk of infection, does not provide complete protection against whooping cough. Erespal in this case does not relieve the disease, but significantly facilitates the patient's condition, reducing the severity of a severe and debilitating cough. Bronchial asthma is another disease in which a drug can be prescribed. A symptom characteristic of asthma is obstruction of the bronchi - a narrowing of their lumen, which is manifested by shortness of breath and coughing. Due to the action of fenspiride, the lumen of the bronchi increases, the risk of stagnation of mucus decreases. Therefore, it is advisable to use Erespal for bronchitis, chronic pulmonary obstruction.

Instructions for use and dosage of the drug

Erespal tablets are not prescribed for children! Syrup is prescribed to small patients in the exact dosage, which must be observed. For adults, the liquid form of the drug is also possible.

Syrup Erespal for children

Kids quite easily agree to be treated with Erespal due to its pleasant taste and smell. The smallest - up to two years, Erespal is not appointed at all. In other cases, the instructions for use regulate the following dosage: 4 mg of the drug per kilogram of the baby’s weight during the day, that is, the daily rate of the drug can be given in 2 divided doses. This is done before eating, the bottle is pre-shaken well.

On average, it is required:

  • 10-20 ml (similar to 2-4 teaspoons) of syrup per day for children weighing up to 10 kg;
  • 30-60 ml (2 to 4 tablespoons) Erespala to children weighing more than 10 kg.

If there are certain indications at the discretion of the attending physician, a different dosage is possible. The duration of use of the drug is also determined by a specialist.

Erespal for adults

Adult patients and children from 12 years old take in a daily volume of 3 - 6 tablespoons (which is equivalent to 50–90 ml). In terms of fenspiride, 1 tablespoon of syrup (15 ml) contains 10 mg of the active substance.

Can I use the drug during pregnancy and lactation

During pregnancy or breastfeeding, medicines for a woman are selected very carefully. The weeks of the first trimester are considered especially dangerous, since at this time the laying of the fetal organs takes place.Chemical and even herbal components of drugs can have a negative impact on this process. And during the period of breastfeeding, substances can penetrate into milk, causing allergies or problems with breathing, digestion and central nervous system in the baby.

Erespal Syrup is not intended for use as a medicine for future and nursing mothers.

However, with caution in some cases, it can be prescribed if the beneficial properties for the mother exceed the negative impact on the child, and the attending physician adequately assesses the potential risk.

Drug Interactions with Other Drugs

Special studies on the interaction of Erespal with other drugs have not been conducted. At the moment, no compatibility has been identified. There are suggestions that the combined use of fenspirid-containing and sedatives enhances the effect of the latter. It is not recommended to combine treatment and alcohol intake. The negative result of this joint use can be a deterioration in well-being, weakness, lethargy and drowsiness.

Contraindications, side effects and overdose

Erespal Syrup for children and adult patients is considered a safe and effective drug. However, it also has contraindications for use.

Among them:

  • intolerance to fenspiride and other components that make up the composition;
  • children under 24 months of age;
  • diabetes: the preparation contains sucrose - up to 0.9 bread units in a tablespoon.

In addition, the medicine in its composition has parabens. They are considered potential allergens, the effect of which can occur only after a fairly long time.
